Name change progress update:
We are pleased to announce that The Ministry of Home affairs, GoI, has now acknowledged our change of designated bank account to Svaraj. We are however still awaiting the confirmatory letter from the Registrar of Societies, Delhi for the name change of the society from Oxfam India Society to Svaraj (Society for Voluntary action Revitalisation and Justice). All contribution to the society can now be made to Svaraj. The 80g Certificate which has been approved for three years (2009 – 2011) will continue in the name of Oxfam India Society in this interim period.
We appreciate your patient and continued support for our work with poor and marginalised communities to strengthen food, water, livelihood and ecosystem services, health services to people with disability, and responding to needs of communities affected by disasters – floods and droughts.
Svaraj’s framework of governance and accountability will continue to be dictated by the statutory requirements of our country, and importantly by our strong desire to practice good governance principles of transparency, accountability and in the judicious utilisation of all funds received. The annual audited financial statements are on our website and can be sent to you on request. We would of course be happy for you to visit our field projects to see at first hand and interact with the communities we work with.
