Volunteers and Interns

Volunteerism is central to our vision, and it is crucial in holding all spheres of society together. SVARAJ aims to revive the spirit of volunteerism among people, by providing challenging volunteer opportunities where people can contribute their time, energy and talent to causes they feel strongly about.

SVARAJ engages schools and colleges in many of the activities in order to develop awareness and sensitivity towards issues that affect society as a whole and a sense of personal commitment and contribution from a young age. We also provide opportunities for volunteers and interns from diverse professions and institutions from India as well as across the globe - (Sweden, UK, Canada and interns from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Delhi School of Social Science, Commits, Action Aid) to actively participate in our programmes, gaining valuable hands-on experience among the communities and enhancing their knowledge on development-related issues. Volunteers and interns bring great economic, social and diverse cultural values to the organisation and communities they interact with.

Volunteers can take up any of the following activities, depending on their convenience, skills, time availability and inclination, to give support to our activities. SVARAJ will give the necessary training/ orientation for the following:

  • Increasing donor base through personal interaction
  • Organising/helping to organize fund raising events
  • Development of publicity material
  • Creating awareness within the community – groups/individuals
  • Advocacy – lobbying, organizing marches, rallies, etc.
  • Pro bono work by organization
  • Accountants, trainers, artists, report / documentation writers
